What can I expect from therapy?
This is a common question, and one that is difficult to answer. Therapy is an individualized, unique experience; therefore, it is different for each client. What each of my clients can expect is a collaborative and supportive experience that is deeply rooted in respect for your autonomy and personal journey. I offer several different types of therapy, so you can have the power and autonomy to control what your therapy sessions look like. This is a time and space to focus solely on you and your needs.
What do I need to do before our first session?
Prior to your first session, you will receive intake forms via email. Please fill these out before we meet; I will not be able to meet with you until you complete these forms.
What will the first session look like?
Our first session is a time for me to get to know you and understand your concerns. We will talk about your goals for therapy, and I’ll explain my approach so we can decide together if we’re a good fit. We will briefly go over the intake forms that you completed electronically. I will spend the majority of the time getting to know you at a pace that is comfortable for our developing relationship—these initial questions & our discussion will likely continue through the second session. Please feel free to ask questions or bring a list of concerns or topics you would like to cover. If you are 12 or older, you can participate in your intake session alone or with a parent/guardian. If you are under the age of 12, a parent/guardian will need to be present for the intake session.
How long will I be in therapy for?
Like everything else in therapy, the duration of your treatment is individualized based on your own personal needs. Overall, there is no set length of time I can estimate for our time together. Once you reach a point of growth where you feel confident in the goals you have reached, we will decide together when to bring your season of therapy to an end. This will be a collaborative process, from the beginning to the end.
I work with most clients for at least 6 months. Some clients may feel better after a few sessions, while others may continue therapy for several months or longer. Some clients reach their goals in therapy after some time, but then decide they have other goals they want to focus on.
How often will we meet?
Typically, clients meet with me once a week, but we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and preferences.
I do not currently take new clients who wish to be seen less frequently than every-other week. After we work together for some time, we may decrease your frequency to an “as-needed” or “monthly maintenance”.
How long are the sessions?
Each session typically lasts around 50 minutes, which gives us plenty of time to dive deep without overwhelming you. You’ll be amazed at how much we can cover in that time!
Do you accept insurance?
For your convenience, I partner with third-party companies, Alma and SonderMind, to handle insurance claims and billing. These platforms will manage the financial aspects of your therapy services, including verifying benefits and processing payments.
Please note that it is the client’s responsibility to understand their insurance benefits, including coverage, deductibles, copays, and any limitations. Alma and SonderMind can assist with verifying your benefits, but it’s important to contact your insurance provider directly for a full understanding of your coverage.

Do you offer therapy for parents?
While my primary focus is working with children, teens, and young adults, I also provide consultations for parents who want to support their child’s emotional and mental health.
Do you provide therapy for families going through divorce?
While I work with children dealing with various life transitions (including divorce), I am not the appropriate therapist for high-conflict divorce cases, reunification therapy, or giving legal advice related to parenting time.
How do I know if my child needs therapy?
If your child is struggling with emotions, behavior, or social relationships, therapy might be a helpful way to explore those challenges. Some signs include emotional outbursts, withdrawal, anxiety, or difficulty making friends.
What should I expect as a parent during my child’s time in therapy?
I involve parents when appropriate, providing updates and suggestions for supporting your child at home. However, sessions are a safe space for your child, and confidentiality is maintained unless safety concerns arise.
You should also expect it to take at least 4 – 6 sessions for me to develop a relationship with your child. Your child will not be able to explore the vulnerable topics often worked through in therapy if they do not feel like they have a safe, trusting relationship with me.
What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?
That’s totally normal! Therapy can feel a bit intimidating at first, and I promise I’m here to make it as comfortable and easy-going as possible. We’ll take it at your pace, no rush.
Do I have to talk about everything right away?
Nope! You’re in the driver’s seat, and you decide what we talk about and when. It’s all about what feels right for you. This is a time and space for you and your needs.
